Taylor Ray Coles

Our fifth child Taylor Ray, was born October 1st 2007 @ 5:29am.

Through out this pregnancy, Raelyn and I had been talking about the fact that we had never had the "call the inlaws...rush to the hospital" experience. As well as not having the natural childbirth experience. All of our children have been scheduled and induced, some going right up to the due date.

We shouldn't have spoken so soon.

Raelyn started having contractions early Sunday morning, the 30th. They stopped about 8am so we didn't give them too much thought. Later that day she had a number of contractions, and by Midnight Raelyn decided that she couldn't sleep though them. We started timing them and by 3am they were coming about every minute or two.

Time to go to the Hospital.

We arrived at the Hospital at about 4am, they put us in a room and got the monitors strapped on. The nurse came back in to check Raelyns progress about 2 minutes later to find that she was dilated to a 9!

Time to change rooms!

As they get us into the delivery room, the Anesthesiologist comes in and tells us that we have two options. 1. Epidural, will take about 20 minutes to take affect (He didn't think we had 20 mins.) or 2. Spinal Block, which would take affect much sooner but wear off sooner as well.

Raelyn decides to do the Spinal Block...

I decide to leave the room.

As the spinal starts to take affect in Raelyns feet, the contractions start comeing on top of each other.

To make a short story longer, the baby was delivered before the spinal took affect ... let's just say, that will be our last child.

Baby is healthy, Mom is happy.
The rest of the kids are happy to have him, and have been a big help to their Mom.

Taylor weighed in at 7lbs 3oz. 19 inches long.

Welcome

Look at the Coles Clan gettin' all techno-savy. We have a blog... not sure how well we'll keep it updated, but we'll give it a shot. Should be fun.
The objective is to share our family experiences with those who actually care. :)
